GMV Sistemas
GMV Sistemas S.A., together with GMV, S.A., is a company within the holding Grupo Tecnológico e Industrial GMV, a fully Spanish, privately-owned company founded in 1984. The group is basically devoted to engineering and consultancy studies and advanced turn-key systems and software development for the aerospace, transportation, telematics and defence markets. GMV Sistemas is particularly oriented towards transportation and telematics markets, having the capability to design, manufacture and commercialise its own products. A high value added content characterises our offer to customers.
The whole group capitalise on the technological background developed in aerospace and defence in areas like:
- Flight Dynamics and avionics (in 1988, GMV was awarded by the European Space Agency (ESA) a nomination as a Centre of Excellence in Orbital Mechanics)
- Design, development and operation of mission control centres.
- Satellite-based navigation systems (GNSS), covering from the analysis and performance assessment of satellite constellations, signal aspects or system augmentations to the development of end-user applications. The company has been heavily involved in the development of EGNOS system, being one of the main subcontractors within the Consortium. GMV is also actively participating the definition and development of the Galileo system, in the context of Commission promoted projects, initiatives by the European Space Agency and Galileo Joint Undertaking. We are part of one of the consortia candidates for Galileo Concessionaire.

GMV Sistemas, focusing on transport and telematics markets, has two main areas of activity:
- Design, development, manufacturing and commercialisation of GNSS-based applications, most noticeably fleet localisation and management systems. All major systems elements are developed in-house (on-board navigation package, on-board computer application, control centre software). Deep knowledge on GNSS technologies allow to develop the most suitable navigation package for the target market, from GNSS alone solutions up to hybridation with other sensors. Having internal hardware design and integration capabilities, the company integrates turn-key systems for the end users, using a variety of telecommunications links suited to the application scenario (radio, GSM, satellite ...). Since 1995, our systems are being sold within the commercial market, and are presently in operation for a variety of user profiles, like police forces, Courier companies, urban buses (three cities in Spain are presently under operation), special vehicles fleets, taxi companies, truck fleets
GMV Sistemas has participated (or is currently participating) in relevant projects in the context of the 5th Framework Programme of the EC, some of them in IST and references within eSafety such as GAUSS (Galileo And UMTS Synergetic System), AIDER (Accident Information and Driver Emergency Rescue), GALILEO pilot projects GALLANT (GALileo safety-of-Life Applications for driver assistaNce in road Transport), POLARIS (a Navigation System Performance-Analysis SW tool), GADEROS (Galileo Demonstrator for Railway Operation System, a satellite-based system to perform train location for safe railway applications for further integration into the ERTMS/ETCS) and in the context of ESA such as SISNeT (as a part of EGNOS-TRAN), Pocket-Shpider (PDA version of the Shpider receiver (a type of SISNeT receiver)), LCN (Low Cost Navigator).
